This is an example of why we do what we do

The payment processor for our online store has decided that we are a “Cannabis Business” and will not process sales from our store anymore. We have tried informing them that we are a non-profit, charitable organization working to spread information and mitigate the stigma around cannabis, but they have entirely bought in on that stigma.

As a result, we are unable to handle payments on our website. We are working on finding an alternate payment processor to handle sales and signups; but until we do, we have a temporary work-around using in-store payments, CashApp ($cannamomsspotsy), and Venmo (@cannamomsofspotsy).

For orders and sign-ups in our online shop, please use the Cash on Delivery option. If you use CashApp or Venmo to pay, please include a note so we can match the payments to the orders.

This sucks, and we hate that it’s more difficult for our supporters. This is why we do the work we do, so that others will not have to deal with this kind of narrow-minded intolerance in the future.

Uplifting Yoga with Ashley

Cannabis can help reduce pain. Mindfulness, stretching, strength and flexibility through the practice of yoga can also help reduce pain. So, why not combine the two?! Yogis in South Asia have been using cannabis with yoga for thousands of years. In fact, cannabis-enhanced spirituality was practiced all over the ancient world. Uplifted Yoga with Ashley is a journey with each class. One night may include dancing around a bonfire on a full moon and other sessions may be inside working on stretching and breathing. Ashley understands that people should listen to their body and only do what is comfortable, so it is inclusive for everyone. Honestly, the vibes are so nice that there may be times that a person may want to just lay on their mat to relax and enjoy their high. Uplifted Yoga is generally scheduled on Wednesday evenings, but check our event page for future classes.

Canna Moms of Spotsy

As I sit to write out this first blog post, I can not help but think about how privileged Canna Moms of Spotsy are to live in a state that allows us the ability to consume the medicine that is cannabis. Our hearts go out to those people that live in other places that restrict it. These states/countries purposely try to instill fear in people about their legal and moral safety. We pledge, as a non-profit educational group, to continue to fight the good fight for federal legality, hope to trump the stigma that is often portrayed as the lazy stoner, and educate the public about safe consumption. Cannabis has been used for thousands of years to treat issues of the heart, body and mind, and now that doors have been open to scientifically study of this miraculous plant, the future is exciting. I believe that many people turn to cannabis because modern medicine often has debilitating side effects. Who says that medicine should not make you feel joyful and at peace, as well? Canna Moms is a safe space for all women to enjoy their medicine, bond over laughter and handle some business. Meetings are productive, joyful and a bit hazy!
